RECAP OF DODGEBALL INFERNO/RECREATION NATION JULY 10th Tournament
After going 6-0 during regular play, Ballz Out defeated the uniformed Dr. Pickle team in the third game of a best of three series. Despite strong throwing from Eric Nadel, Yehuda Jacobowitz, and Young Joshy Zide, Ballz Out won the day.
Before Ballz Out made it to the championship, they defeated The Flying Pigeons, a ragtag group of individuals led by Rich Coster, who almost single-handedly dismantled the perennial Dodgeball Inferno champion Yorkvillains. Michael Colon and Lee Bienstock provided firepower and strategy respectively for The Pigeons, while Tommy Huthansel, and John “Cash-Money” Cashin of The Yorkvillains kept them in the game.
Runners-up, Dr. Pickle, slew The Magic Dragons in their semi-final game, even though team Captain, Danny Zide played like a man possessed, and Roy Ben-Zvi dodged almost everything in sight. The Magic Dragons (2-4) were surprised to find themselves playing in this game, after shocking the mostly bearded 3-3 Ball Breakers. Despite playing with the intensity of, well, ball breakers, the Ball Breakers and their fully follicled minister of pain, Yehuda Shur, and Brian “Fastest Hands in the West” Glicksman, could not overcome the magic of The Dragons.
The color-coordinated Sh!t along with Captain Tony T-Bone, and The Guy in the Boston College Shirt had an impressive regular season record of 3-3 before falling to eventual 2nd place team Dr. pickle in the first round of the playoffs. It should be noted that regardless of this early exit, The Sh!t definitely had the most impressive shtick, including pregame rituals, extensive dances and handshakes and overall camaraderie. Great work!!!
The people at Dodgeball Inferno and recreation Nation would like to extend our thanks to refs Dan DiGiacomo, Angi Taylor, Elpida, Hilly, Danny Zide, Tommy Huthansel and Yehuda Shur. Thank you to T-Bone for keeping the standings and Robert Weiss for guarding the trophies with his life.
New teams are welcome for next week's July 17th Inferno Nation and don't forget, anyone who participates in the tournaments can go to the Ship of Fools for discounted drinks following the event.
