YORKVILLAINS DO IT AGAIN!!!

Dodgeball Inferno Tournament of Champions July 25th

Congratulations to

THE YORKVILLAINS

The TWO-TIME “LORDS OF ALL DODGEBALL”

Mike Huthansel was awarded The Al Hecht Memorial MVP for his superior throwing, catching and leadership during the finals. John Cashin, the GM and spokesperson for The Yorkvillains, deserves an MVP Honorable Mention for constructing the Yorkville Juggernaut.

THE JV continued their historic rivalry with the Yorkvillains losing to them in a finals round that went to the full three games. The JV, however, still maintain their title as the “The Most Hated Team in Dodgeball Inferno,” this despite an almost complete overhaul of their roster. The JV were almost blindsided by rookie-team-sensation, THE PINK/GREEN NUGGETS, in a semi-finals round that was closer than anyone expected. Led by team captain Danny Bernstein, there is no telling how high the Nuggets can get now that they have had their first taste of The Inferno.

The YoYoKingdom were the most acrobatic team of the night but lost to The Yorkvillains in the semi-final round of the playoffs once again. There is talk that next week the YoYoKingdom will sit out and let their fan-club play in their stead but at this point it is only speculation.

“The Attendance Award” goes to BLUESWITCH considering they had more people on their team than The YoYoKingdom had fans. The team was helped by the return of Adam Goldschmiedt and made it into the playoffs by offing the rising CROWE”S NEST team in a special elimination match to determine the sixth and final spot of the playoffs.

After taking a week off to practice and strategize, this week’s tournament saw the return of AIM FOR THE FACE. Led by Kate and Katie, and a Danielle that refused to go quietly, Aim for the Face kept it close in every game.

Perhaps the biggest congratulations of the night go out to Mike Chin and THE BACONTARIANS. This team with an enormous heart, but a small roster, finally received their due, going 3-3 on the night with a strong performance in the playoffs.

THE YORKVILLE ZOO WIN JULY 18th TOURNAMENT

Dodgeball Inferno Tournament of Champions July 18th

Congratulations to

THE YORKVILLE ZOO!!!

The new “LORDS OF ALL DODGEBALL”

Elpida Harris was awarded The Al Hecht Memorial MVP and Laura Gilbert and The Yorkville Asylum deserve props for their heroic play during the finals against The Zoo.

After suffering a major setback in last week’s final, The Yorkvillains decided to divide their forces into two teams, apparently in an effort to double their chances at winning the finals. The returning YoYoKingdom, along with a strong fan base, and the upstart Aim for the Groin (not be confused with another team in our league, Aim for the Face) were poised to give the Villains a run for their money. In true cannibalistic fashion, however, it was The Yorkville Zoo vs. The Yorkville Asylum in a finals match that went three rounds, and will most be remembered for Elpida’s catching the ball with a combination of her hands and head..

Around the League
-The Crowe’s Nest, representing our sponsor of the same name, are improving and are becoming a force to be reckoned with.
-Last week’s champs, The JV, were sent home early this week due to scheduling conflicts and were without former MVP Mark Gelberg and All-Stars Jason Kollander and David “The Great White Shark” Epstein. Don’t count them out yet, as they plan on coming back for more glory.
-BlueSwitch premiered their new orange jerseys this week and are looking and possibly even playing better.
-The Bacontarians were still short a few people but continue to smile and be competitive in every game.

Spots are still open for the next Tournaments: July 25th and August 1st.

Sign-up now!!!

Special thanks goes out to The Crowe’s Nest for sponsoring Open Bar!

Thanks to the refs: Josh and Jonathan-nice job!

Next week new trophies and medals are up for grabs and new glory is to be had.

We are looking forward to the return of Aim for the Face next week and please invite your friends to join or just to come by and watch and meet people.

Thank you all for participating this week and thanks to Stan for turning on the air-conditioner.

See you next week.
